PHOTO TIPS
Here are a few things that I need in a photo for an amazing portrait!
The background does not matter as long as the subject is in good focus and I am able to see main features.
Clear and in focus.
The subject cannot be blurry or in too dark or too bright of light. This takes away from the details that are so important for me to see in order to render a lifelike portrait. The image above is an example of a picture I used on a portrait, and gives me enough details on the character of the subject. Outdoor, natural lighting is the absolute best.
Good quality photo taken with a mobile phone.
Good quality.
The photos that you send are really the key to the entire process. They are monument to enabling me to create a detailed and realistic portrait of your loved one. But you don’t need a fancy camera necessarily! The photo above was taken outside in daylight with a mobile phone. It is close in the frame and good enough to see the details.
A great example of “at the same level” picture.
The perfect pose.
If you are taking photos of your pet, try not to look down on your pet…get down at the same level so that the shot is straight on. This makes a HUGE difference in the composition of the drawing.
