The eyes of the Asiatic Eagle Owl are arresting, bright, fierce, and impossibly knowing. There is an intensity in that gaze that feels almost beyond this world, as if the bird sees not just what is before it, but through it, into something deeper. When I first encountered this magnificent creature, I knew I had to capture that look on paper, the way those eyes hold you, unflinching and wild.
This piece is the first in my Owl Series, a study in contrasts: the razor-sharp clarity of those piercing eyes against the impossibly soft cascade of feathers. Rendered in charcoal pencils on recycled tinted paper, each stroke is deliberate and delicate, coaxing texture and depth from fragile material. It's a meditation on duality; the fierce and the gentle, the predator and the ethereal, all contained within one stunning creature.
