There is something impossibly tender about owlets, those wide, curious eyes peering out from the safety of a tree hollow, all fluff and wonder. These three Screech owlets capture that fleeting stage between helplessness and flight, when the world is still new and every sound, every shadow, holds mystery.
This piece is part of my Owl Series, a study in the soft chaos of down feathers and the gentle vulnerability of youth. Rendered in charcoal pencils on recycled tinted paper, the process is as delicate as the subjects themselves, each stroke carefully placed on fragile paper, building layer upon layer to capture that impossibly soft texture. There's a quiet magic in drawing young owls, in trying to convey not just their appearance but the promise they hold, perched on the edge of becoming.
All giclee prints are made using archival, pigmented inks. This fine art print allows you to see all the detail from the original drawing and will last generations.
