This sunflower was the first one grown on our little hobby farm, from seeds saved from my grandparents' farm. It is titled after the song that Gram used to sing to us as children, and it's the same song I sing to my kids every night. There's something profoundly special about watching seeds passed down through generations bloom into something beautiful, a living connection between past and present. Charcoal and graphite were used to achieve the multiple textures of this beautiful flower, from the delicate petals to the intricate center. This piece is a tribute to family, memory, and the simple traditions that tie us together across time.
